Pet Orthopedics in Cookeville, TN

Dog and Cat Orthopedic Services

At Copeland Veterinary Hospital in Cookeville, TN, we understand how important mobility and comfort are to your pet’s quality of life. Our team offers advanced orthopedic surgery to treat injuries, joint issues, and chronic mobility problems, so your pet can get back to moving pain-free.

Orthopedic Procedures We Offer:

We provide the following orthopedic procedures:

  • TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy)
A torn cranial cruciate ligament—similar to an ACL tear in humans—is one of the most common orthopedic injuries in dogs. TPLO is the most common surgical treatment. During this procedure, the tibia is reshaped and stabilized with a plate and screws to relieve strain on the ligament and restore long-term knee stability.

  • FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy)
This procedure is used to relieve pain caused by severe hip arthritis, hip dysplasia, or trauma. The femoral head and neck are removed to eliminate bone-on-bone contact. Over time, a functional “false joint” forms, allowing pets to move more comfortably.

  • Pinning & Plating Fracture Repair
When a fracture is suspected, X-rays are taken to determine the location and severity. Treatment may include a splint, cast, or surgical stabilization using pins, plates, or screws. Healing is monitored closely, and rehabilitation may be recommended.

  • Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) Surgery
Medial patellar luxation occurs when the kneecap shifts out of its normal position. Surgery helps realign and stabilize the kneecap to reduce pain, improve mobility, and prevent long-term joint damage.

Some orthopedic conditions require different approaches. If your pet needs a surgery not listed here, please contact our team to discuss the best options for their care.
